The two first dog years are not equal to 7 + 7 human years, according to my daughter that is a dog lover.
She says the first two count as 11 + 11 (9) = 22 (20) :-)
So a dog borne three years ago is "compared to a human being":
11 + 11 (9) + 7 = 29 (27) (human) years.

And so we come towards the celebration of a three year old thread. It seems like only yesterday, or was it tomorrow that I made my very first post in WPW - 'How do I submit my site to Google?' Never did get an answer - but seriously folks, it was in this very thread that I made my first post, I'm going back in to dig it out and reply to it.

And here it is, my very first post at WPW -no Mod badge then, Jawn_Tech made me laugh with 'Pardon me Roy, is this the cat that chewed your new shoes' Mik Mik, Global Hostings Group -Minstrel, Max - I wonder what happened to him? -3 years on, and still Happy Smoker and Wen participate. May this thread go on and on. It's been fun reading the old ones again. Cheers David

Participate ? Me ? I stopped doing that years ago. Someone told me it would stunt my growth (and I didn't even know I had one)

Yesterday,today,tomorrow
Quite interesting -the post and the replies over three years.I am reminded of the "PRASNOPANISHAD"(A Sanskrit Language word maning the Wisdom in Questioning)In that the diciples who approach a GURU eager to know "who am I" are advised by the GURU to meditate on the query for one year and get back to him so that he can by then tell them what he knows.
May be it is time our GURU has to answer her own query.

How about a quantum experiment to help confuse you more on today, tomorrow, and yesterday? I love "stuff" like this!
To quote one of my favorite experiments:
Quote:
Flipping the Coin - A Quantum Experiment
Let me give you another example, in which things get even more strange. Let's assume you want to flip a coin to decide weather you go to the movies or not. You take a coin and you know already that there are 2 possible outcomes. Either you end up with heads or with tails.
Now you start flipping the coin...
What you just did is create the possibilitie of two new time lines. If you like, you could also say the possibilities of two new futures. In one future you are going to the movies and in the other you don't.
The coin lands in your hand...
Now let as further assume that you won't look at your hand, where you are holding the coin. The future is already created as the result of the flipped coin in your hand. But, by not looking at it you are still in the twilight zone and both outcomes are still unknown. So obviously it doesn't matter what side the coin falls as long as you don't have the information of it.
Now open your eyes and look at the coin...
Either it is on tales or on heads and it this moment 'you' made your choice. And by making your choice you decided to go on this time line. What about the other time line? It still exists in a parallel universe and you are in there as well. You just focused your attention on one of the universes by making a decision. Well, we are back at the duality where we have to decide for one possible outcome.
What happens if we don't decide? It's a rather difficult task for the mind and it needs some training, but you are able not to decide and to have your attention in a consciousness superposition where both worlds are present at the same time. Does this mean you are going to the movie and the same time you are not? Obviously our mind cannot grasp this idea.
|
If you really want to question time look into quantum mechanical superposition. You have to love quantum mechanics!
Today will always be today and so will yesterday and tomorrow ;o)

Well, uhm,
No, actualy.
The coin nor the multiverse is in anyway recreated. What happens is that the coin is in superposition (both heads ands tails and nothing at all) and only when you look at it will it/you make that decission. Power of observation. The multiverse wouldn't actualy be doing anything if it weren't for us staring at her all the time.
So tomorrow will only become today if we take the time to have a look at it. If we forget to look, time stops, no tomorrow.
I would so like to beg you to read Greg Bear's short story: Schrödinger’s Plague, published in Tangents in Aug ’89. If ever a living soul (he is still alive is he?) wrote a great story about the Schrödinger cat paradox it would be him.

So, if it is a two headed coin then I suppose you must consider the possibility that your destiny is predetermined or that the parrallels have coincided.

Of course there is another reality.
Imagine this. I take a two dollar coin and flip it into the air. I ask my teenage son to shout (heads or tales). . there is a blurred movement, and I stand holding out my hand waiting for the $2 to land.
"where did that go?"
"I dunno"
"did you just grab my money?"
"No"
"you must have"
"I did not . . It disapeared!"
Reality is not a place where I should spend a great deal of time. It confuses me.

No confusion here. I did exactly as directed, and punched in "a yes or no question". The answer was "No".
What's confusing about that ?

'Here ya go tubby. You will never be confused again! '
I think not, I like to understand what confuses me.
Something that I do not understand would simply not confuse me. How could I have a conflict of thoughts If I never understood what the conflict was.
How could a conflict between two conflicting truths eventuate if I never recognise either possibility as a truth, What if my brain is about the same capacity as a ducks - what is a head?. . .
Sorry I do not think my 'duck' brain has a capacity to be confused by anything other than simple things.
I shall remain . . Quietly confused by reality.
