Office Space
OK...I signed on today to read serious articles and discussions, but cannot get in the mood to do actual work.
Since we all have jobs that involve sitting behind a computer for 8-12 hours a day, I ask who has seen the movie "Office Space"?
If you have, what is your favorite moment or quote?
Mine is:
"Look, I already told you! I deal with the g*****n customers so the engineers don't have to! I have people skills! I am good at dealing with people! Can't you understand that? WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE! "
What is yours?

LOL Office Space is definitely one of my favorite movies... and sure, I'll give in and post a few quotes (although you guys already posted two of the best!)
Peter Gibbons: You're gonna lay off Samir and Michael?
Bob Slydell: Oh yeah, we're bring in some entry-level graduates, farm some work out to Singapore, that's the usual deal.
Bob Porter: Standard operating procedure.
Peter Gibbons: Do they know this yet?
Bob Slydell: No. No, of course not. We find it's always better to fire people on a Friday. Studies have statistically shown that there's less chance of an incident if you do it at the end of the week.

the office space boss
"Yeeaahhh, I'm going to need you to come in on Saaaturday..... " The guy cracks me up. The entire movie was funny. When they take the fax machine out was one of the best parts. Thanks for the reminder. I'm going to watch that movie again this weekend. :-)

too racist for me
It contained too many racist overtones. So I turned it off after viewing 15% of the movie. They didn't have to include so many racist scenes to be funny.

Office Space
Hi there!
That movie is hilarious! Mike Judge is the genius behind that movie, which was based on is short cartoon "Office Space" that aired on Saturday Night Live. He also did "Beavis & Buthead" and "King of the Hill" currently on Fox Network.
I lived in Los Angeles a few years back. A friend of mine was the sound editor on "Beavis & Buthead Do America". He had never seen the cartoon before. I took great pleasure assisting him with the placement of all the burps, farts, and screams.
Mike Judge has a new movie coming out. I can't remeber the name though. That man certainly has a unique way of looking at things.

I have been waiting for this moment, and I want to say Hi, Mik, my name is mikmik.
I loved that movie also, but I thought there was something very funny in the opening scene when he is driving to work.
I can't remember it very good, I may have to get Office space this weekend myself.
tfinch, that line he used is somehow in my vocabulary now, I thought about as funny once to often.
Wasn't it more like "Why don't you go ahead and come on in this saterday at 8 blahblah..."
and he would always ask our guy a question, then cut him off with the 'go ahead and ..'

That movie is a riot! I have no idea what racist overtones the one poster is referring to? I'll watch it this weekend and keep an eye out.
I think of that scene where they're passing out the birthday cake and the heavyset woman keeps telling the hapless office worker (who's muttering under his breath how last time he didn't get any) to pass it on, even though she's standing next to him and she keeps a piece, so you can just tell what's coming. Oh, it's just so sad. I swear everytime I'm in an office setting where there's cake I think of that scene and I always want to tell people, "Pass it on."
It figures that I'd relate to the cake scene. I really felt sorry for that fellow.

I haven't picked up on any racist overtones, but I'll watch better next time. Either way the movie is worth watching, because it's funnier than s**t.

office space again
Maybe the overtones the other poster was talking about was the rap music and fax machine scene. Now I am ashamed that I laughed through the entire scene. :-( Anyone working in an office would appreciate this movie.
By the way, mikmik, the driving to work opening scene was the person using the walker passing the poor guy as he sat in traffic. Too funny and a great ending too.
Hey... wasn't Jennifer Aniston in that movie? Was she the one that didn't want to wear her flare?

Yup, it was Jennifer Aniston. Remember the, "You slept with Rumsfield?" scene? Too funny.
Evidentially someone else saw the movie because a bookkeeper I know recently told me that the bank they use (who I'll leave unnamed, but it's a major bank) constantly has shorted her account by a penny here and there. She has to call them up about every other month, and spend a half hour getting them to straighten it out so she'll balance. My question is: How does the bank balance with the mistake? Hummm. A penny here a penny there - it all adds up.
Another story: I know a fellow who pays a bit extra on his mortgage every month, so he likes to review his statements very carefully and compare them to the amoritization tables - and what do you know but the bank makes a penny or two error about every other month in his mortgage too! Wow. Fancy that? I wonder how many people just never notice those pennies?
Office Space launched a cottage industry.

Aaaaaaaahahahaaaaaaaa!!!
And I'll never look at a stapler the same again, either :o)
Yes, tfinch, the old man. But everything is just to much, his girlfriend, boss everything. It could have gotten silly, but the characters were surprisingly real. Not stupid at all, that movie is one of my favorites :o)))

Hey, I NEED a new stapler (mine leaves a hazardous jagged sharp edge on the stapled object), and red's my favorite color, which could be used to justify an outrageous expenditure ... hmmm ... I'm going to have to think about this.

I'm off topic now, but I didn't even notice I was on http://www.thinkgeek.com until I posted. My favorite MUST HAVE on ThinkGeek.com is the James Bond Stealth Camera: http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/electronic/655e/
I really want that camera. I'm making an effort to stop buying myself toys, so I'm restraining myself.

I heard that Swingline created that red stapler after the movie came out to meet the demand from all the people who loved the movie...

Rumsfield?
Not to be mean, but the guys name was Ljundberg or something, not Rumsfield (I have no idea where you got that name from). Best lines
1) If they take my stapler I'm gonna burn down the building
2) We are not gonna go to minimum security prison we are going to go to #$%-ramming prision
3)That's when I give her the Oh face, "Oh Oh"
4) Your name is Michael Bolton
Also this is probably the most unracial movie I have ever seen. I don't think there is anything bad racially having a white guy named Michael Bolton listening to rap. I am confused about why someone would think this movie was racist?

I saw that it was incorrect when I went looking for the red stapler, but frankly, I didn't think accuracy was critical so didn't come back to correct it. The name was Lumberg - here's a nice chronological look at the whole red stapler incident: http://www.virtualstapler.com/office_space/os_1.asp
Rumsfield - hmmmm. Where have I heard that name ... Maybe it's been in the news, I don't know. LOL
Oh yeah, I almost forgot but they also had a white stoner guy - that's sort of racist in a white, stoner guy kind of way.

This stoner was on the Drew Carey show - Oswald? Don't know. I'm not much of a TV watcher, but I recognized him. --- Maybe this should have been in the break room ;-)
Okay, I've done my "above and beyond the call of TV trivia duty" and found this: http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet...iedrich_Bader/
What kind of a name is Diedrich Bader? That's a classic made-up Internet name, IMO.

I was just about to comment about the Jon Stewart/Half Baked thing... In my opinion, another movie classic
