SEO Podcast
Hi all... just thought that I'd post up and see what you all thought about Brian and I's Beginning SEO Podcast?
After almost 2 months (on the 12th it'll be 2 months) we're seeing Great traffic... lots of downloads / tons of bandwidth... and we're having fun at the same time :)
So here's the concept... there's so many SEO questions that are asked over and over and over... (you get the point) So we figured since SEO Advisor was the only other guy out there doing podcasts on the subject... well we figured we'd give him a run for his money...
So if you get bored... want to critique us... or just can't find enough good stuff to fill your iPod... check out the Beginning SEO Podcast and let us know what you think!

Neo, I was happy to do a podcast with you a couple of weeks ago. You should ask John S. Britsios aka Webnauts, on next. I would be happy to do another as well. Maybe at the same time with him.

I sure hope we can work something out with some big names. That could be fun. This is much less formal than the typical WebmasterRadio show, but still comes out with a lot of good content.
It seems Podcasts are starting to get a lot of traffic. Judging by the fact that NeO had to increase our bandwidth allotment in the first full month, it could get pretty interesting soon. And all of that interest has ToolBarn getting ready to start doing some podcasts.
Podcasting is fun... although it's lots of work.
Brian.

I think it is a excellent idea! Having a library of answers for SEO questions would save a ton of time to everyone. Besides, it is more comfortable listening than reading.
The site looks great and the quality of the podcast is very professional.
Also, I liked how the categorization was defined.
Good luck!

You might want to have the related forum links open in a new window by default.
I started the podcast, then clicked on the forum link, and that interrupted the podcast and I had to re-trace my steps.
In the future I'll use SHIFT+click, but you may want to change the default so people don't get booted off the podcasts when they click on a link.

Jackit chick - You rock! thanks for adding us to your Favs!
Lunartcorp - I like listening more than reading, you can pick up on voice influctions (and get sarcasm, humor, questions, etc...) better than you can by someone writing in italics to show emotion... .02
Nivelper - Good point! I hadn't thought about that... I'll talk to management and ask them to get on it ASAP ;)
And WPW - Thank you guys for the HUGE spike in traffic! that was an unexpected present!
Please feel free to post up questions in the 'Ask a Question' area! And if we answer your question we'll mention your URL on the show! You guys are AWESOME! Thanks soooooo much!

Sure... right below the "Play" button on each one, there is a link to download it. The options listed on each episode are Hide Player | Play in Popup | Download.

That's part of the podPress plug-in for WordPress. I think it's a great bit for usability.

Re: SEO Podcast
Hey Frank! Glad you guys like the podcast...
In all honesty... if it weren't for Brian editing the heck out of the podcasts they'd be an hour long with a bunch of bad language in them
Since Brian records everything... from time to time I slip up and let something go (for a clients site or something) and will have to swear really fast so that I'm sure he takes it out! LOL!
It's getting to be really fun now... I can't quite believe that we actually have that many people interested in what a couple of geeks have to say.... But then again I tune in every morning for DSC (Daily Search Cast) And that's just to see if Danny's going to sing!
I'm looking forward to our next set of shows... we have Barry Schwartz / Carolyn Shelby (Cshel from WMR and Rush Hour) Trying to get Lee Odden, and Jeremy Schoemaker too! those will be fun and informative!
Thanks for listening and commenting!

Re: SEO Podcast
Fantastic....I have listened to a ton of both Mr. SEO and the SEO Advisor's casts, so let me give you a couple thoughts on what those casts could improve on, which might help you.
1) Sound quality: Do plenty of samples and have a bunch of people check it. That is a big prolem with Mr. SEO, as you can hear him but not the girl next to him.
2) Neither of them have guests like me on, the people with the issues. I would be glad to be a guest and you could answer my questions and experiences directly. Get real people on there, and discuss their issues. The SEO Advisor has no guests, boring. I don't listen to him anymore. Mr. SEO only has his sidekicks on, but not the common programmer and webmaster.
3) Both Mr. SEO and SEO Advisor over sell themselves and their websites. If you just focus on helping people, they will come. For example, Leo, the tech guy. All he does is help people, and his guests are mainly us. The people with problems are his guests. The Tech Guy does podcasts professionally.
4) Make it fun, which the SEO Advisor does a poor job. The Tech Guy, does it well.
Hope that helps you some, Stuart

Re: SEO Podcast
Stuart have you heard any of our podcasts? The sound quality is really good... Brian has a studio to do everything up professionally.
As far as guests go... we've had Ryan Sharrer (designer) Carolyn Shelby (Chicago based in-house SEO, and co-host of Webmaster Radio's 'Rush Hour') Barry Schwartz (CEO of RustyBrick, and SE Roundtable, also co-host with Danny Sullivan on the DSC, and chief editor of search engine land) We have about 5 others lined up for new shows... And we will do some site workshops where we go through and help a normal Joe run through all of the steps we've previously outlined...
As far as promoting ourselves... we don't really (I suppose we should) I guess when we get a sponsor we'll have a 30 second commercial in the podcasts... but other than that... we're not doing this to get our sites noticed...
And if you'd like to be on the show... by all means, please swing by and go to the Ask a question section... if you have a mic w/ headset and a copy of skype (a good question too) we might just have you on sooner than you think
