eBay
Questions
Selling
on eBay - Tips?
We've been selling on eBay in addition to our website
for a few years now. As such it hasn't really been
a primary focus, but we have started changing the
way we're doing things after researching some competitors.
We're selling what is essentially an impulse-buy
luxury item, and our retail prices are comparatively
low--in the $10-$40 range. We had been starting
auctions at just under retail price, but we've now
tried auctions starting at 50% retail price and
at $1 with reserve.

In addition, I've recently been trying to add more
precise information about our product--materials
used, size, etc. It doesn't really seem like people
are willing to bid up anywhere near our retail price,
except in the case of a few items here and there.
Does anyone have more experience selling on eBay
that could give us some suggestions as to how to
increase bids? Read

Strategies This
Gets the Ball Rollin'...
I am sure some people will see my point, and others..
well, you can't please everyone. With our new affiliate
program, we have my partner's phone number on the site,
which is not unusual; however, we have a little added
incentive for our partners, because they stand to benefit
immensely. We recommend that they call a close friend
or acquaintance, which we will gladly conference with
them. Because our program has a most unusual software
driven payout, it has major potential when using the telephone...

Email
Marketing In
Regards to Spam!
I hear all of time that people don't want spam. Well,
let me enlighten everyone. If you are in business online
you should not be complaining about spam because more
than likely you wish you could or were doing it.
The only type of spam I have an objection to is porn,
for which I set filter to put it right in the trash. Other
than that most spam comes from people like you and me
trying to make a buck. If you don't send emails online
you are missing the boat in trying to build your business
and you have to either learn how to filter what you don't
want or don't go online!!! Read

Questions PPC
Listings Lack Credibility
Most searchers know by now that those sponsored listings
at the top or along the side are paid listings, and that
the rank of the listing there depends entirely on the
amount paid - not on relevancy or content. If they don't
know it, they're going to learn how irrelevant those listings
can be, whether they ever understand why, or not. Due
to SEO spam and the ambiguous nature of most of the English
vocabulary regular search results are so irrelevant that
I almost always have to use advanced search to find what
I'm looking for... Read

Industry Questions It's
GOT To Be a Scam!
Last week one of my staff forwarded an email to me about
this asking if we should forward it to the rest of the
staff. Considering that the name it allegedly came from
didn't match the name on the email address itself...and
it said those magic words, "forward this to everyone
in your address book", I said absolutely not. Since
that first email, we have been inundated with all kinds
of emails allegedly from real people telling us we should
really sign up for this service. Any anti-spam service
that spams is a fraud in my opinion... Read

"While repling to a discussion thread in

about animations, I remembered an accessibility
concern that might also be useful to this

An often overlooked accessibility problem
is that animations, esp. with highly-contrasted
blinking, can trigger seizures in users
with photosensitive epilepsy.
Also, viewers with distractibility problems
may not be able to focus on the page's meaningful
content..."
