Does anyone now where I can get hold of industry benchmark figures for sales conversion rates, to give me a measuring guideline for our own performance?
We have a website in a specialised travel and tourism market. I am interested primarily in acceptable performance measures for conversions of: 1. visitors to enquiries received 2. enquiries received to sales made or 3. visitors to sales made. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Sheldon |

It all depends where your traffic is coming from and the quality of the traffic.
If for example, some people visited your site from www.nevergotoanothercountry.com they are extremly unlikely to request any information from you. However if someone comes from a search engine specifcally looking for information your site provides, then your more likely to get a conversion. I would suggest that you only focus on the traffic where your target market is likely to come from, and analyse that. Typical conversion rates really depends on how good your sales copy is. If your copy is fairly decent, then about 1% is about average.
