Affiliate Customer Tracking

Hi,
Is there a better code or way of customer tracking (capsule of code) that a customer can carry to the merchant-site, that can report back to us once the customer has purchased something?

Hi Roy,

I'm not sure what you mean. Most affiliate programs use cookies to track sales. There are many good programs on the market. Please explain if you were asking something different than this.

Thank you. What I meant was, that since most people are using cookie-wipers and spyware wipers ... is there a legit way that the customer can carry a small javalet that they can use in a friendly way and send back an update of what they purchased, etc.? That way they are happy and the merchants are kept honest. Right now the system I am on is very straight and I don't see that as a problem. Howver, using my site for links to other cookie based affiliate programs, I would like to instill this with my customers with a customer-consent type of arrangement.

I don't really see off hand how this could work but if you figure it out please let me know. I am very concerned about cookie based tracking for the reasons you mentioned but have not found anything else that's ideal. I know some companies working on IP based tracking but that's not ideal either.

I believe most consumers don't care if an affiliate gets commission so I would not rely on them having to do anything. If I am still missing your point please let me know. And again if you find a solution let me know as well.

You got the right point. I may have a solution to get the customers interested in this (I hope most of them). I would like to partner with the popular "cart" designers with whom I could share some ideas I have. Let me know if you happen to know any of them.
