You need to do some research on it. Affiliate Marketing is a big ocean. You need to where to start.

The best course I have ever seen is Jason Dinner's course. Look it up on the internet. He can take a beginner and lead him through the ropes and really get him having success marketing. I went through his videos and I was really impressed. Also, realize this is a profession where you can earn more than most professionals and live anywhere you want to in the world. Do you think that someone could explain the whole profession in one post. You have to be totally committed to learning this profession.
Time to go to school. Go through his entire course do everything he says and then tell me how things are going. |

Your first objective is to find a niche. It should be something that you are knowledgeable in and would enjoy working with.
After you have your niche, research it to find the top players in that market. Learn from them and mimic them. You can find a lot of free resources that can guide you on your way. Just do research from your search engine as well as this forum and other related forums. Good Luck, Glen Speckmann |

I agree with Glen Speckman. You have to find a niche you enjoy then create a community around that niche. Rather than think about selling a certain product. Develop a blog, forum, newsletter around your niche and sell and create many products that you think will provide value to your readers. Also, think long term. Do not think about just making a few bucks. Think about creating long term success.
Affiliate marketing is a profession where you can earn more than most professionals from anywhere in the world. I have been doing this for 10 years. You need to think about it as a real profession and treat it as such. People go to school for years to learn professions that are not nearly as rewarding as this exciting field. All the best. Matt |

In affiliate marketing there are numerous companies with numerous products. Before you choose a company, get the reviews of the company and also try to find out about the products and do some research on them. As everyone said its a big ocea. Should be very careful in choosing. healthmarket dot com gives some good affiliates in health niche, I use this and its quite good.

Affiliate marketing is basically getting a code from a company, pasting it into an advertisement and receiving money when you make a sale. That’s the basics. The depth comes in when you try to use PPC and they won’t let you advertise your affiliate link. Keep in mind I only use PPC for split testing things in the beginning. You can function with out a web site although it is better when you have your own for tracking purposes.
The best advertising is free advertising. I suggest article marketing and forum marketing. It's a big ocean as one person has already replied. You'll need to research and make tests. Don't spend a lot of money because thats not needed. You basically advertse your link one way or another. |

If you're new to affiliate marketing the first thing I would do is learn by watching what the "gurus" are doing. Signup to receive their emails and such, then do whatever you can with the resources you have as close to what they do. You don't have to pay for a course on how to affiliate market if you just pay attention to how successful marketers promote a product, launch a product or whatever they're doing that you want to do.
Keep your expenses down starting . For example one thing you don't have to do is buy a bunch of domains. Get one domain where you have plenty of room to grow and bandwidth for when you get busy. Then just add pages for products you promote and promote those pages. Starting out you aren't going to have a list, so concentrate more on SEO, which includes article, blog, forum and social marketing, etc. marketng opportunities. You want to try to rank high in the search engines for people that are familiar with the product and are searching who they want to buy from. Take some proactive marketing measures that fit your budget to start building a list with lead capture pages., proactive email marketing, traffic exchanges and any other way you can make contact with people by actively seeking them out instead of just waiting for them to hopefully stop by your site and opt in. There are tons of free resources that can help build your SEO and remember that with 1 domain anything you do to promote any pages you make helps your SEO for your entire site as opposed to having several domains and your SEO is mostly piecemeal helping only 1 domain at a time. You can make lots of blogs free pointing at your pages, same for articles, video's and other resources that are loved by search engines. Don't try to sell everything out there. Pick a product you would buy yourself and it's better if you do buy it for yourself. do everything you can to get towards the top of the search engines before adding new products. About no more than 1 per month might be a good schedule. 1 good month worth of hard work focusing on 1 product should get you some results. Then you can add another product(preferably in the same niche) and do the same again learning what works best from your first campaign. Then just keep refining your strategies will make you a more effective marketer. I, as anyone who has done this could go on and on, and there are books worth of details, but this post is more than long enough. There'sprobably as many good strategies as there are products out there. John |

Research and research some more. First you should determine your niche. Write down what you are knowledgeable about, what do you have experience with, what are you passionate about. Then come up with some keywords related to your niche ideas. Use a keyword tool such as Google Keyword Tool and plug in your keywords to see what the monthly query numbers are. If your keywords show decent numbers of monthly queries, you are on the right track. Affiliate Marketing is not easy, but if you choose a niche that you are passionate about, you will be more likely to stay the course and build your success.

There is no fast and easy way to earn significant amounts of money.
I agree with gmswan99 and Glen Speckmann. You need to find a niche where you have good knowledge and start to create content that visitors will want to read. While you are doing this you need to be also thinking about how visitors will find your site - do your keyword research and think about SEO. Once you have the basics in place i.e. a site that is attracting visitors you can start to place adverts through affiliate marketing networks. Google Adsense is a good way to start as google uses intelligent algorithms to place relevant adverts on your site. However, to optimise the return you will probably be better off finding affiliate marketing programmes that will be of use to your visitors. All of this will take time so do not give up if you do not achieve high returns in the first few months.

Ok, you want a step-by-step. All the advice is great here, but not really step-by-step.
Sorry if this sounds promotional, I really don`t want it to.. but I think this is what you need. I have a free step-by-step resource you can download at Niche Marketing Camp (follow a link on my sig). It shows every single thing starting from how to choose a niche, how to know what those people want, how to make money out of their problems. How to make your own products to sell, and why this is the most profitable strategy. Honestly, I think this is all you need to start.
