Hi all,

I own 2 e-com stores and am looking to become an affiliate advertiser (I believe that is the term to have others listing my products and making commission?).

Being a complete rookie at this - I am not sure where to start and would appreciate some community advice.

I started with an information request to commission junction but unless I misread they are asking for 3000$ set-up fee + another 3000$ in escrow? That's way over my budget.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If having an Affiliate Program hosted through an Affiliate Management company like CJ, Linkshare, Shareasale, Regnow, etc. is out of your budget, I'd maybe suggest hosting your own Affiliate Program. You can get ready made scripts that allow you to host one yourself, like AffiliatePro

The only problem with hosting an Affiliate Program yourself is you have to promote it yourself to obtain affiliates. However, there are companies that will get the word out about your affiliate program to a multitude of Affiliates, like AffiliateAnnouncement.com.

I have been promoting (full-time) affiliate programs the easiest and the cheapest ways (no fancy website and no fancy merchant tools) but getting enough to pay my bills (ordinary household bills, not bills to maintain a luxury yatch or a Ferrari).

I can't give the link to my website (against tos) here but it is in my signature. I suggest you study it (a very simple basic website but the money is good). You can click the payment button to see who are involved. You don't have to pay anything unless you confirm it. A lot of free ebooks (no opt-in) related to making money online. Those are not old and dated ebooks. Examples (brand new ones): "30 Tips To Maximum Conversion Rates", "Affiliate Marketing Pitfalls To Avoid", "Successful Affiliate Strategies", etc.

It is so brand new that if you Google "30 Tips To Maximum Conversion Rates" you are going to see it listed at the very top with a link to a popular free ebooks directory. You will get my stuffs there. "Successful Affiliate Strategies" not indexed by Google yet.
