Exploring Different TYPES of Affiliate Relations
-------
These same 2 questions yielded no response when asked elsewhere. Hopefully you folks will know more about the topic.
Are there any reliable, publicly available surveys/statistics that show conclusively which TYPE (i.e., not which company or brand) of affiliate relation generally offers the greatest profit margin to one who is seeking to sell another’s goods - by driving traffic to another's website - via the Internet?
For example, one TYPE of affiliate relation requires nothing more than an agreement and a link to another’s website. In this TYPE of affiliate relation, the affiliate’s job is restricted solely to driving traffic to another’s site (i.e., no stocking inventory, no shipping, no customer service, etc.). The cost of becoming this TYPE of affiliate is usually zero with respect to monthly fees, software purchases, and all other costs unrelated to the affiliate’s own site (whereon is the link to another’s website). In this case, the affiliate's commission is commonly 5% to 15% of the product's price.
Other TYPES of affiliate relations; for example, require the purchase of additional software, and/or the use of special APIs, and/or formally becoming part of an associated network.
May we reference in this post:
1. A list of the different TYPES of affiliate relations
2. Published surveys and statistical comparisons associated with the different TYPES of affiliate relations
I am certain that an objective reference of this nature will be very beneficial to your readers. Of course, I have read some of the "sticky" and other posts here but have not found a concise treatment of what is being asked here. Incidentally, I also attempted - as suggested in a "sticky" associated with this forum - to register at warriorforums. However, I am not willing to remove security to paticipate in a forum.
