Default ClickBank: "distributed denial of service attack"?

Hey Guys,

I just tried logging in to my ClickBank account and got the following message:

2005-04-27 10:23am PDT:

We are currently dealing with the effects of a distributed denial of service attack.

Thank you for your patience as we work to restore our services to full reliability.

- ClickBank Staff

Does anybody have any idea what this means?

- Eder

Wow DOS attack on ClickBank? I just tried to log-in and got the message too.

From Webopedia:

Short for denial-of-service attack, a type of attack on a network that is designed to bring the network to its knees by flooding it with useless traffic. Many DoS attacks, such as the Ping of Death and Teardrop attacks, exploit limitations in the TCP/IP protocols. For all known DoS attacks, there are software fixes that system administrators can install to limit the damage caused by the attacks. But, like viruses, new DoS attacks are constantly being dreamed up by hackers.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Does this mean my sales aren't being tracked?

Well it's hard to say at this point. The main site appears to be up. It's only when you try to log-in that you get the message. Many companies have tracking servers that are separate from the main server. I just don't know how ClickBank is set up cuz I never work with them.

Hopefully they will get it resolved quickly.
I just blogged about it and LOTS of people read my blog, so please do let us know here if anyone finds out any more info.

Ok I found the ClickBank Forum with lots of updates.

If you have any PAID campaigns, may want to pause them for a bit until you are sure everything is working again.

Evidently ClickBank.com has been working but ClickBank.net has been up and down and that's where the order forms and everything are. Some are reporting hoplinks are not working, others say they are back up but slow. I would just keep an eye on the thread below to follow the lastest news.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

I just did a little more research and found that this has happened before.

Re: ddos attack countermeasures
Shut off a distributed denial of service attack that briefly blocked access to our order form.
