Hi All

I have a new affiliate program I am in the process of setting up and wanted to ask for your feedback. The merchant sells premium seating tickets for concerts, sporting events etc. Average Sale $300 - $400 and we will be offering a good commission.

The owner is considering offering a 2 tier commission because a competitor does. My feeling is that 2 tier programs are better suited for webmaster related products. I don't think that many ticket selling affiliates would be interested in 2 tier recruiting.

I think I'd rather put money into 1st tier bonus incentives.

But then again, I'm not the boss - I WORK FOR YOU!

Thanks in advance for any feedback. So what do you guys think?

CCD would be interrested and would this merchant consider a code of some sort? ;)

I agree about the 2 tier commissions. It is something I feel is more for webmaster products and I am all for bonuses. Bonuses inspire ya to work harder and sell more IMHO.

It was great dicussing your super cool site (by email) and making some recommendations that I think could help you increase your affiliate income. I am excited to have you my team for some of my top programs!

As far as coupon codes for my event ticket client, I am not certain, but will definately suggest it. 1st need to get the program launched, then I will discuss it with the CEO.

Hi Chris,

Irvs/EE/Roadloans/DentalPlans are on all on CJ.

DentalPlans is also on BeFree, DarkBlue several other small networks and has a strong in-house program.

ZZounds, Intellicontact and my newest client I just launced yesterday - Avid Hosting are all in-house.

The new sports and concert ticket affiliate program I will be launching next week is in-house with myaffiliate tracking.

On My 5 Star site - I include the tracking software or Network used in each affiliate program review.

Most of my clients already had programs set up so I basically work with whatever they already have in place and try to optimize their existing program.

It looks like you prefer LinkShare and set most of your clients up on that network, right? What do you see as LinkShare's strong points?

I have been working behind the scenes on solving the 800 phone # tracking issue for you all. I know this is a big area of affiliate commission leakage and am excited to announce that some of my merchants are implementing solutions as we speak.

zZounds is the 1st to make the bold move and phone orders are now being tracked. I couldn’t talk about it because they would not even give me the details until their patent was filed.

"When a phone customer calls in, we try to get a unique ID from their web browser so that we can attribute their sales to our marketing efforts. These marketing efforts include you, our affiliates, as well as other paid advertising. This ID is displayed near the top of the browser and states "Mention priority code #XXXX when you call". Our Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) are instructed and incented to collect this ID."

Having an 800# is very important to online sales and legit businesses MUST have an 800# for questions or for people who are afraid to order online. However, some products tend to get more phone calls. With zZounds I assume customers sometimes have tech questions like "which is the best turntable that has xyz features?" or "my speakers just blew - what brand to you think is the most reliable and the best price?"

So for zZounds to now track and credit affiliates for phone sales I think is HUGE and shows how high integrity they are. They even have a patent pending the process they are using to do this.

HealthPlans.com, the sister site of DentalPlans.com, recently launched on CJ and is accepting new affiliates to participate in this cost-per-lead program. The site is a short, 1 page health coverage form that pays out $1.50 per lead. The conversions are really great on this page, as high as 30% conversion from click.

I'd be interested in what you can recommend that I work towards in affiliate marketing? I used to be pretty heavily into marketing until I ended up in 2 programs (back to back) that ended up being ... ummm ... less than trustworthy ;o) So I was scared off and haven't done anything since then. In fact, I've just recently gotten into using sponsors of any type ...

Welcome to the forums. Just took a quick look at your site. A program that jumped to mind is SurplusComputers.com. The site looks a little funky right now & is being redesigned, but they have a great new affiliate manager unreal prices and are selling products like hotcakes. I thought of them, since you seem to cater to a technical crowd. I think they are on BeFree.

Since you feature a lot of web marketing and webmaster type info http://www.intellicontactpro.com
may be a good fit too. It's a 2 tier, lifetime residual email marketing program that your visitors with newsletters might like.

I am swamped today. Just launching 2 new programs. I'll try to look again when I get more time and hopefully Cedric or one of the other regulars will stop by and give you some feedback.

Funny you should mention surpluscomputers ;o)

I joined them a couple of weeks ago and just haven't gotten around to adding their banners or links yet. I've been adding 1 - 2 pages daily of new stuff .... and really need to concentrate on something that's going to pay for all this.

One that has really worked well for me is Xara.com ..... it's been a steady one. I didn't expect it to do as well as it has .... but am grateful that it is.

I'll check into the other site you mentioned, as well.
