Default questions for experienced affiliates

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if you could please answer a couple questions I have if you get a chance.

I have a website that is very young, and I'm trying my hardest for it to be a good one with good information and quality resources.

Question 1. Between CJ, Partner Gateway, and linkshare I have a click thru rate of about 30%... is this good or bad? What I'm trying to ask is if this is good, why am I having such a difficult time getting any sales? If this is bad, what can I do from my site to improve things? What am I doing wrong?

Question 2. I do not understand this Alexa ranking thing. How in the world can my site that is a little over three months old be ranked 110,768?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Bob

Hi Bob,

It's a little hard to answer question 1 without seeing your site. (I assume it's not the one in your sig or you would have mentioned it???) One of the best things you can do to increase affiliate conversion rates is to include merchant testimonials about the product if the merchant has any you can use. That's just one little tip.

Question 2) Do you have the Alexa toolbar installed? How often do you visit your own site? If you are checking your site a lot with the toolbar installed this can skew the numbers.

Default Great site

Great site. You've done a fantastic job. good url. great content. good preselling of your affs. I think you just need to be patient. Your CJ and other Comish will start coming. It takes time. Your Alexa rank is probably skewed by a toolbar but in any case thats a great ranking. I believe it will even be correct in a few months once you are starting to get found on Seacrh engines. Keep up the good work. I will definitely include your site in an upcoming web project I am about to launch.

Kudos on your blogging efforts - keep it up - it fits the genre of your subject matter. you should go on some blogging sites & forums and talk about blogging - like, ask people for help. (Not that you need help but people will flock to your site and once bloggers finds/digs you you will get a lot of traffic and just the right target for your site.

Hi, whatever you are doing, you are sending traffic to your site, probably ppc traffic that has helped your alexa ranking. You definitely need some in-bound links to your site to raise your page rank with google. Ask some friends to point some links to your site, but don't point them right back from this domain, use another if you have. Also, create some links out to other informational type sites at the bottom of the page, google likes this too. Finally, build out somemore pages on this site about movie related topics with appropriate meta-tags and body content. Let me know if this helps.
