Yeah, a number have claimed similar.

Have you had a transaction in the past six months? If not, that's likely the cause.

Cedric is right. This has happened to LOTS of people!
I'm told you can just sign up for a new account with a different email but you would have to start over with merchants and links.

Default dropped from CJ

I was deactivated a few months ago and had to redo all of my apps to the affiliate programs. Make sure you have a good list of the affiliate programs you have jooined and keep track of time. In the beginning, you may have to purchase something to keep activated within a six-month period.

I've found eBay works great. There's something for every kind of site (almost anyway) and using the tools provided (Flexible Destination & Editor's kit) your bound to get at least one bid in six months - if not bid yourself but beware I think this is against the terms and conditions (I'd be surprised if it's not).

This just happened to me and frankly I'm baffled. I know I had money sitting in the bank with Commission Junction (less than $100), but I wasn't getting many sales. What happens to my commissions - they just keep it? Seems unethical to me, and I want no part of them now.

I'm taking down all the links I had to merchants with CJ and crossing them off my list - since the links weren't generating sales anyway, my efforts are obviously better placed elsewhere.

Yep, I guess I'm another one that marked off. Its not like there was any chance of earning any money with them anyway. There was a time when they had some decent programs. I too am wondering what happened to my money. There was not a lot in there, but it was mine. Guess its time to send some flaming emails

Indeed its a bit out of order, CJ closed my account about 6 months ago and for reason I was told that it was not active (I had about $65 in it).

I wonder what happens to the money left in there, do CJ keep it or do they give it back to the merchants? Probably the first option but who knows...

Wow! That's amazing that a number of us mentioned our accounts being closed with a balance (I think mine was around $65). Doesn't sound legit at all to me.

It did teach me that I'm better off to focus my attention on what I do best, instead of trying to make a dollar off ads (even if they are relevant). People don't come to my site to look for workout clothes - they come to find ideas and information about how to lose weight!

I have come across some sites where they've compiled very useful compilations of affiliates (such as one that has info on plus sized clothing for instance), and that seemed like a smart way to run a site, and make money from the affiliate associations. They undoubtedly would get sales, as people visiting their site are looking to purchase clothing. Makes perfect sense.

Default Commission Junction Has Been In Bed With Theives For A While

Commission Junction was one of the first affiliate networks that I ever signed up with and to this date 6 years later they are the biggest rip off and waste of time. They in fact almost made me feel like not ever supporting reputable networks and others good merchants on the net. If I was in their network as a merchant I would not walk away i would run. they have for a long time been associated with parasites, adware and spyware villians and like much of you have said they do not track correctly to pay off. Other networks do pay you just have to do your homework and find them. I have found listening to people in the know like myself in these forums is one of the best ways to actually find good programs. But you do have to be careful and track things closely and if they do not perform and pay cut em out, I say!

I agree, yet, many in these forums openly support and suggest affiliates that are in the CJ network, so the usefulness of what you read becomes in question. Perhaps since they haven't been cheated (yet), CJ is okay with them? Dunno.

What I do know is with as many of us saying the exact same thing, CJ simply dropped us, and kept the money we were owed, it is obviously happening to thousands of people which amounts to a cash cow for CJ. They should be investigated. Who's up for the job? LOL

Have any of the people who were dropped by CJ (with money in their account) called CJ to attempt to resolve this matter?

I have complaints about CJ, but they send me a sizeable check every month and have done so for years.

I saw no way to contact them unless you had an account, and I'm not inclined to set up another account. If anyone has an e-mail address or mailing address, that would be appreciated. They make it difficult to contact them via their website.

I am with CJ. I get a good check from them each month. I have no complaints and happy with them.

If I remember it right...
there was a mail from CJ informing the affiliates that if any of the affiliate not getting paid within six months( either by check / money transfer), a $10 fee would be applied each month(?) and account would be deactivated.

I do not know whether it is nice to you people to quote an another forum. Mods please correct me if I am wrong.

Abestweb.com forum (http://www.abestweb.com) is frequently visited by Todd, an employee of CJ. Try contacting there, if you can't get a direct reply from CJ.

vivekar is right about the policy change on inactive accounts -- they made it very clear that they were not interested in maintaining accounts for people who had not generated a sale in six months.

Personally, if I thought I had been terminated unfairly, I wouldn't bother with an email over such an issue. I'd get on the phone.

In my case, it's not worth the time to follow-up now but when I did go to their site and found no e-mail addresses or phone numbers, that struck me as a problem. If they have a policy to drain a non-performing site dry at the rate of $10 a month, then okay. Seems rather draconian, but if their computers are somehow burdened by non-performing accounts so be it.

I'm glad some site owners have success with CJ but I'd not recommend them based on my experience and the lack of support - they should at least advise an account they've been, or are about to be, terminated so that account holder could do something to address the situtation, if they were so inclined. Simply deleting the account, but not deactiving the links is also suspect.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, it's a good example of why a site owner shouldn't just join affiliates without some thought as to whether it's a win/win situation. Most likely if your site isn't closely aligned with the affiliate's products or services, then you won't generate click throughs or revenue. I had thought since my business is weight loss, that associating with sites selling fitness equipment, for instance, made sense but I know now it does not, at least not for my site. My site's focus is not on fitness, after all, it's on the mental aspects of weight loss, and why it's so hard to do what we say we want to do (same with marketing or anything really). I've learned my lesson, and greatly appreciate all the input in this forum.

There are no less than seven phone numbers on their "Contact Us" page.

Which makes it extremely difficult for affiliates who get a check from CJ every month to take such complaints seriously -- if it's not worth it to you to even make a phonecall, it just doesn't seem a complaint worthy of a third party's (other affiliates) concern.

CJ announced that they would deactivate accounts that didn't have a sale in six months and then they started doing it. It may seem draconian to those deactivated, but it's hardly unethical or a "cheat".

IMO, If an affiliate had not generated any sale for more than 3 months and having more than $50 should change their Minimum Payment Amount and get their payment.

They should not have waited for more than 6 months with $65 in the CJ's chest. They had plenty of time to recover their money.
