Default Tax ID issue for Non US affiliates marketer

Hi,

I like to join one affiliates program for merchant that requires me to supply Tax ID or Social Security Number.

Since I'm not US citizen and not live in the US, I don't have both. In their Term and Agreement, without these info, once I reach $600, they cannot pay me anymore.

Would any Non US marketer share with me how to handle this issue? Thanks.

Regards,
Sjarief Hilmy

You can apply for an Individual Taxpayer Indentification Number (ITIN) -- See:

http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/...=96690,00.html

Any income over $600/year would be reported to the IRS, but if you have no business activities in the US you shouldn't be on the hook for any US taxes.

Hi there,

I can tell you that you shouldn't really need any number. I've been an affiliate out of Canada for years and have never had to get an IRS tax number, and I've received many cheques over the $600 limit.

Contact the affiliate program and let them know you are not from the US. The most I figure you'll have to do is fill out a US document called a W8-BEN form and fax it back to them.

Of course, this affiliate program might be more picky than others, but I'd be surprised.

Sjarief,

I'd just like to chime in and note that if you live outside the US and are a member of an Affiliate Program, you don't have to worry about US taxes. We here at Homeplans.com have quite a few E-ffiliates that live in Canada and other parts of the world and they don't have to worry about W-9's or W-8ECI's.

I would let the program you're interested in, know about your status - there shouldn't be a problem.
