Default Buying traffic

Has anyone ever used a service where you pay something along the lines of $10 for 10 000 Unique Visitors ? I was thinking of using this technique and pointing the visitors to my affiliate site !!

Anyone have any advice or recommendation concerning this ?

Thanks

Hi Krooga,

Timely question! I am just doing this now. I just ordered 10,000 visitors spead evenly over 30 days from:
http://www.targetedvisitors.info/

The owner Dan Grossman is heavily involved at SitePoint, so I felt I could trust his service. I am definately getting the traffic but it's very hard to tell if it's converting since I don't sell anything. Just hoping they join my various merchant's affiliate programs, but there is no easy way for me to judge if it's working.

Thanks for the info. Just say you found a good service which paid you per click. Imagining you created a page with a meta refresh and pointed all your traffic to that program that would be $0.02 * 10 000 which in the long run is really beneficial right ?

Problem is, that would be considered cheating and illegal clicks so how would you get around that ?

Any other sites that you recommend ? Let me know how your campaigns work out and if the conversion rate are any good. Lastly, can you tell me what site you are pointing your traffic too...

I tried one of those services.. 10,000 in a month for $24.95 and found many of the visitors were from non-US, non-EU markets which visited between 1am and 4am, I'm Central US. (Very few of the IP's resolved to named addresses)

The company guaranteed 10,000 unique visits or would pro-rate a refund.. in the last 3 days of the time frame.. I got about 7,700 visitors, so I cannot say it was balanced traffic, but I did get 10,000 visitors.

Granted, it was 'untargeted', cheap traffic that I was using to test the site as well as the service..

If I may make a suggestion.. use a specific landing page (e.g. A renamed copy of your index page) or hang a variable off the URL you submit to the company so you can track performance. (www.domain.com/index2.html?source=june_ad)

If you can, put a banner from an advertiser such as Fastclick on the landing page to help defray the cost.. They have pay-for-impression programs.

Krooga,

The traffic is pointing to 5staraffiliateprograms.com
and I bought US webmaster traffic. The thing that strikes me a little odd is that typically a fairly high % of webmasters would have the Alexa Toolbar and I'm not really seeing the added traffic in Alexa.

I've bought some of this traffic from 2 different providers. I didnt get 1 sale or lead out of the traffic I bought. It was generic traffic though.

I would always try to figure out exactly where this traffic is coming from. I don't see why it has to be a big secret for the seller to reveal this so why not ask. I'd also like to know how they qualify the traffic into categories. Webmasters = what? to them. . . Targeted traffic is only targeted if you know where it's coming from and the traffic is 'qualified' someway. If you don't know that info than it really isn't all that targeted.

Sounds like others got hit by the May Google chamges.

We were speculating last night that Google is penalizing certain datafeeds/merchants.

I personally am down 1000 visitors a day with this latest change

AffiliateForums.com,

The traffic I bought is supposedly from webmasters as it is redirected from expired domains. I guess if domains are webmaster or travel or whatever related that's how they target the traffic or by some kind of keyword algo.

Hi Jackson, hope you recover from Google!

Hi all,

about traffic sellers it is always a risk the result.

I used 2 different providers:

http://buyhitscheap.com
http://hitzpro.com

The last one is cheaper but my last order was almost
a cheat, my stats registered 7-10 unique visitors with
800-900 clicks each. This happens mainly when your page
is shown on the rotators sites.

The ones of the 1st site are always real unique visitors
generated through pop unders, so I now use only this service.

Default I wish

One of our clients is an ecommerce website who sells herbal chocolate for women suffering from PMS. And they decided that choosing one of the types of companies would benefit them. They traffic seller basically put their website on a rotator Iframes page and also had popups. Needless to say they received about 2 emails a day from LIVID surfers who were cussing them out for popping up their website..

I wish I could remember which company I will take a look at my clients stats and see where the hits were from.

Default sorry

Sorry I didn't finish my post. I had to visit the wonderful world of the bathroom.

Just found out, the company was Adscholar, who seems to have filed backruptsy.

Normally when companies file bankruptsy I don't cheer, but in this case. YEAH!

Oh and by the way, my client received a bunch of hits with NO sales.

Before they went ahead and did that we mentioned that Google Adwords or Overture was something they needed to take a look at. But I guess Adscholar was to tempting for the Web naive.
