how to sell an ebook
First, send out 50 copies of your ebook to such people of influence who can help you sell the book. Do stamp "For Review Only" on the bridge of the book--maybe even at the bottom of the front cover and back page. But anyway, get the point across that the book is sent for "review only."
You can get a list of the latest people reviewing ebooks from GALE RESEARCH. After sending one to GR, send the other 49 to names they send you including but NOT limited to INGRAM and PUBLISHER'S WEEKLY and the library system. Definitely send a book to select key women's sites and publishers. Sort your list by "areas of influence."
Always attach a polite but clear personal note of about 25 words with each request for review. But send the 50 ebooks FREE as you want and need the endorsements! The caveat "for review only" prevents the book from being circulated [and re-sold] to "outside people" who have no interest in giving you an endorsement. Do remember that some writers still send their ebooks--50--in literal rough copy, that is, Xerox copies or some other duplicating means. The idea here is that your selected potential endorsers will have in their hands physical copies of your book. The older "houses" are so used to dealing with "paper" that they will appreciate a hard copy. This idea will definitely attract their attention, but do include the book in disc format, if at all possible!
After doing this, pray and hope that you'll get 5 excellent replies in quick time!
Other than that, you should create a short FREE web site about the book alone (generally take an hour or so), and then link that with everyone you can find who will link back to you. Finally, send the ebook to AMAZON.COM and let them sell it. That alone will give you much publicity! But you still must get your own endorsements BEFORE you go to "print!"
Good luck!
