Default Form 2 Mail

Hi

I am a “greenhorn” on cgi-scripts and how it works. I have created a from with Dreamweaver that will use the method “POST”. I know there is FormMail.pl scripts available, but how does it work? What I need/want to do is to place the script on my server (my own cgi-bin).

After the form is completed and the user submit the form, the script must use/take the info from the form and email the data back to a specified email address. I know a bit of VB coding, but is it. Any help or examples will be appreciated.

Thanx in advance

Gentile2x,

Please give the url where I can see your form and where your formmail script is located i.e. http://yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/formmail.pl

Hi Brandblast

My URL (where the form is located): http://myweb.absa.co.za/ivanr/jicpt_questionnaire.htm

The script that I use, not my own, is at: http://www.hixnet.co.za/scripts/windformmail.pl5

The service provider (absamail) that I use don’t have any scripts, so I use Hixnet’s script, but it works if I mail the form to someone, and they save it on their hard drive. If they submit the form through the absamail server, then hixnet blocks the page. That is why I want to find out how does the script coding work, and if I can place “my own” script at my URL.

Thanx
Ivan

Gentile,

Thanks for the info, when I submitted your form I got the following error.

Bad Referrer - Access Denied
The form that is trying to use this FormMail Program resides at: http://myweb.absa.co.za/ivanr/jicpt_questionnaire.htm, which is not allowed to access this cgi script.
Sorry!

It seems like you have not setup your referrer in your formmail script, it should be set as the domain where your formmail script resides ( in this case it would be http://myweb.absa.co.za ) I suggest looking at your windformmail.pl5 code for the referrer and entering your domain, everything else looked okay.

Good luck,
