Default New web site will not open

I took over a .com web site hosted in the USA with the intention of upgrading it and moving it to a com.au domain on a new server in Australia. During construction I had the .com.au domain forwarded to the .com domain. When completed I uploaded the new site to the new server and completed the delegation for the .com.au domain.
The problem now is when I attempt to open the .com.au url I get the web host home page. My hosting service claims they can open the web site so I must have a browser problem. The site also opens on other computers, but not mine. The problem occurs in IE, Firefox and Mozilla.I have checked the HOST file and it appears OK.Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

If it works on others - it sounds like a local problem. If you ping both websites - is it the correct IP address?

Did you try to clear your cache, history and maybe a reboot?

You might need to flush the dns cache on your computer. If you're using a PC, execute the following command in a Dos Prompt (Start->Run->cmd):

ipconfig /flushdns

Try to access your site again.

This is going to sound stupid, but it happened to my girlfriend's father once so I'm throwing it out here.

Do you have an .htaccess file on the new server? If so, look for any redirect lines in it that would point to your web host's site.

Nothing ever sounds stupid :) - That is why there are checklists for everything, it helps to make sure it has been checked.
