Default Page loading slow

hey all - got a quick ?

I think my new design is running slowly and i wanted to ask if you guys can check it out for me. The site was designed in IE so don't bother checking in another browser as it looks all funky (gotta fix that once i get it all completed).

The URL is - http://www.tunnelwebhost.com

I know it's not the servers that are running slowly - i've checked all of them and mainly went through the one it's sitting on with a toothpick and that server is running just fine but the site still seems to be hanging and was thinking maybe it was the design (i'm not much of a web designer but i'm trying).

Can you guys let me know how it fast/slow it loads - I am on a cable modem and would like to know from various other connections what they see.

I appreciate your feedback.

Warm Regards,
Bill

Hi epic :)

I think you need to run your page through this Web Page Analyser - it has some quite scary results - there may be some things you may want to change about the page design - and it'll explain when it take so long to load.

Good luck :)

No problem epic :)

It's one of main tools I use when designing a page - far more accurate in terms of page loading times than the likes of Dreamweaver, and some other software I've used.

Also remember that those results are based on "an ideal world" - which is not always how it's gong to be for your website design, for all sorts of various reasons.

However, as you know - it is a damned good tool :)

my site, www.iHomeConnect.com loads quickly and i have cable, but i ran it through the test and it looks really slow... i also looked up the site using my friend's 56k and it only took about 18 secs to load... how accurate are these "tools"...??

Hi Supernatural,

Your site seems slow to me, if you visit your own site a lot it can become cached meaning you get a false impression of how quick it really is.

The tool above is highly accurate and I use it a lot, it's well worth trying it out at least. It is also a good idea to test your own sites on machines that haven't looked at them before ruling oput any caching issues. You can try clearing the cache in IE but I never trust it 100% because sites can also be cached at ISP level, again scewing how quick it is.

hmmmmm... well, then the good news is that once the site is cached, then folks will be able to browse it faster...

I've tried all sorts of optimization but as I have a ton of includes and data, my site will load slow...

Thanks for the tip. My results weren't scary at all. In fact, it congratulated my URL, which is quite gratifying.
