I agree 100%. Having been in the media game a long while, I can assure everyone that a poorly written release is not worth anything.
Rule of thumb online is forget about back links etc, think about the human reader. A good release, on a topical subject, with the right 'hook' will work better every time.
It is even worth manually submitting them to actual media outlets as well - yes real people!!
