With adsense, there's a fine line between too much and too little information. Provide too much info, visitors won't need to click through on the ads. Provide too little and you won't get found. Layout is critical IMO. One that needs to be experimented with and tracked.

Affiliate programs are a bit different. My earlier post as well as the one by dcrux apply. You need to create a site where a visitor finds plenty of information and a place(s) to purchase the product. If it interests you, I have a new program available for one of the sites in my sig.
