I don't have any problems with the images conceptually, however I think they're amateurish and don't convey a high level of professionalism (No offense intended).
When it comes to logos, people expect to see clear crisp lines in a balanced image that clearly conveys the business purpose in a memorable manner.
Here's an example:
The message I get it "strong, reliable service" and that, if I want to be as cold as a Polar Bear, I'd best contract "Advanced Refrigeration & Air". Notice that they didn't use any tools in the image. Just the badge shape, internal imagery and basic text. It's pretty much self explanatory and precisely the sort of thing you should be shooting for.
Here's another great one:

On a similar tone but different niche:
What I think is great about the Bowdoin image is the fact that the paw is raised to rest on the letter "B" and the head shape and position are fantastic. With the ears up, the image conveys alertness, a good trait in bears and the companies they represent. I'd recommend this style inside a badge for you. Replace the "B" with a house and add some gentle shading similar to the Bundaberg Bear logo seen here:

If you feel this is beyond your graphic capabilities, don't hesitate to contact a professional logo designer. They're cheaper than you think and worth their weight in gold. They'll build you something that will look great when used on any colour background and on a variety of materials.
You've already got a good concept, you just need to refine it to make it really zing.
