Edit2: Ok, its really wierd. Now that I've seen Jeeves, I can't get back to the normal version without clearing my cookies. NOOOO!... wait... I don't use ask anyway... never mind.

Edit3: Ok, it seems that if you type in askjeeves.com it takes you to Ask, but permanently puts ask into Jeeves mode, with no obvious way to go back to normal ask without clearing your cookies.
Odd.

I've just done a test, using both IE6 & FF3.0.8, both allowing & blocking all cookies, finding that I was able to move between ask.com & uk.ask.com with no problem.

However, once I'd visited askeeves.com, I couldn't get out of "jeeves" mode at ask.com regardless of cookies under FF; and, under IE6, ask.com now hangs!
