I suspect that there is a lot more to this story. If you read the article, his avatar was previously caught boinking a virtual prostitute and he said he would never do it again. The fact that he left his monitor on where she would see it is somewhat telling.

I just bet that
a) both of them spend way too much time on line (like I am doing right now) and
b) their relationship probably is not that satisfactory for a bunch of other reasons.

She is just using the avatars as an excuse.
