I agree, however when you can get the link relatively easily, there's no reason to not get it... While the link juice might be negligible, you can't know that for sure until you get the link and check the rankings... Considering you need a link to get traffic, why not get some ancillary juice as well?
With relation to traffic and juice, the links in a post will get transmitted via RSS feeds, the blogroll will not... These RSS feeds might be getting published online, or might be getting scraped and used by spammers... which is not a terribly bad thing for an authorititative site (i.e. one thats not brand new and subject to penalization due to possible spam connections) because it could lead to hundreds of backlinks (from crap sites, but since your not doing any work, who cares)...
Am I correct in this assumption?
