Time will tell if and how it would make any impact. First thing that strikes me is that it enables you to see how "the community collectively edited searches".

I could see a company with many employees affecting results.

Then again, will it catch on? Not sure I see the appeal yet. I think it would be some time before the majority of the search user base would actually start using this, instead of seeing it as just another novelty.
