The site looks like a thin affiliate site and if I am not mistaken Google doesn't like those. It doesn't matter that you had 500 word articles on the site in the past - what have you written for Google lately?

Also - As I read your post and the responses of others, it looked like you were trying to defend your previous efforts rather than listen to the advice that was given. You can rationalize all you want but if that isn't working and you are unwilling to heed advice then what?
