"Is it possible to pull any of that JavaScript into an external .js file - there's reams of it and it will be slowing down your download times, as well as slightly affecting the efficiency with which your website is indexed by the SEs (ever so slightly, but still worth sorting out)."

We have actually got as much of the JS in a .js file as possible but have external components that emit dynamic JavaScript on the fly - it's a shame but I'm not sure there is much else we can do with that.
