I had a similar problem a few years ago with a host and domain reseller that went out of business. The host gave all his domain customers to another reseller in the Phillipines, but the actual registrar was bizcn. I found that the unlock transfer code automatically expired after 24 hours and had to be reset. With dealing with the Phillipines through email and them going through bizcn, the time window wasn't being met and the code failed. I finally found someone who understood this and managed to reset it for me to give it more time. The actual code was the same for both time windows. I hope this helps.
