Let say I have domain XXX and I am shooting for keywords A, B, C

I go out an buy the domains A.com B.com C.com and all sorts of other .net and .org
combinations.

If I 301 redirect all these domains to XXX will it improve my serp
for the keywords A, B, C ?

Should I submit A, B, C to the search engines and Go out and get them backlinks
or focus on backlinks to the main domain (XXX) with a,b,c as the link text?

What else can I do to use A, B, C domains to improve my main domain XXX's
ranking for my keywords?
