Lightbulb Do you use the power of soical media sites to your advantage?

1. Social media as a digital source to your site.

An example may say more than a lot of words. Here chrispederick.com is an example of how Chris Pederick uses social media sites to his advantage. Look at the bottom of the page:
  1. Blog powered by
  2. Books powered by
  3. Links powered by
  4. Photos powered by
  5. Updates powered by
  6. Videos powered by
2. A django blog using OpenID to sign in.

Simon Willison's Weblog is powered by Django | The Web framework for perfectionists with deadlines and you sign in with OpenID .

3. What are the advantages and disadvantages.

The advantages of the last example is obvious. By using OpenId to log into the Blog, you should get rid of most (all?) spamBots. The advantages of the first example regarding BandWith and storage capacity for your photos and your videos are also obvious. The disadvantages are also obvious. You don't have control of the external server, and the services may be halted.

4. Friendfeed.

There is another social media site that you should be aware of, FriendFeed. I use that site on my FaceBook profile to automatically updating my delicious bookmarks so all in my FaceBook network can see the update of my social bookmarks.

Note the RSS feed at the bottom of these bookmarks. You can use this feed in Google Adsense for feed if you have an AdSense account
