I also designed it so it looks OK in 800 by 600 resolutions. This, in case a person has 2 windows tiled vertically. If there resolution is at or near 1600 by 1200 my site still looks good.

You could still limit the widths of text columns and have a fluid design.

I like the fluid design good from 800 by 600 up so that it can be tiled vertically. This is something I don't think too many people take into consideration.
