There's a lot of different strategies. Whats the idea behind the blog? Is the idea to monetize it? Is it to attract visitors and customers? Do you want to become an authority (or are you already an authority) on your particular industry? Do you wish to improve your sites rankings through the blog? Is it a wordpress blog (id recommend that it is)?
The obvious things to watch out for are titles, headings, descriptions etc... Plenty of internal linking, regular posts and advertise it on social media and relevant industry sites.
