Yes there was a story on our news about that possibility according to my oldest daughter. I would say if it happens 1 of a billion times, stop it. I heard a Swedish scientist that participate in the project. Said the following.

"It can happen, but it will be so small and it will disappear in a few seconds".

With what is my question? With energy or mass and what mass?

<edit>
I found the frightening story on our news:

- Jorden kan bli slukt*|* TV 2 Nyhetene

Headline:
The earth can be swallowed.

Subtitle: "Americans go to court to stop what they fear can mean the end of our earth and universe?"

My own thoughts without reading that article.
  • Who has the final word on this project?
  • What is the ethical side of the project?
  • What is the implication for future projects.
</edit>

I remember a book I got from a now died IBM employee about (or popularized by) Einstein where he said that it would be no problem blowing the whole earth in pices.

Forget Schroedingers cat for a minute...if an old man dies in a bedsit without any relatives or visitors...does his time of death alter just because noone is actually aware that he is dead...I would say no...the lonley old guy dying alone in his bedsit is dead whether or not anyone sees it.

So its at that point...that I lose comprehension of what they are getting at.
Go back to my first post. According to the equation mentioned there, there is equality between mass and energy. Our body is mass, but according to that equation there is an equivivalent energy. The sides of the equation can be changed. Our body is mass when we live and may become energy when we die?

Only my fantasy.

Think of this. What dimension does
  1. a line that covers the whole two dimensional paper have?
  2. What dimension does a sponge have?
  3. What dimension does a coral have?
  4. What dimension does a galaxy have?
Have you ever seen the axis in the three dimensional space Euclidian inspired mathematicians say that we live in?

Acording to fractal mathematics, the coastline of Norway :

Mandelbrot points out that the length L of a coastline depends on the ... dimension very close to unity, while the very rugged Norwegian coast has D=1.52. ...

So is it possible for us to live in a space:

3 < D < 4?

If so, there can be many universes living in different branches of that fractal.

Our own universe can be one element in a fractal with uncountable number of elements like the Cantor set.

Only pure speculation.
