Does Adsense Search works in password protected directory?

I have a site with a few hundred of scientific articles in PDF format.

I would like to use the AdSense Google Search working on it...
But the articles are only available to registered members with login and password.

Does the Google search works "behind" protected folders?

Is there any other way to find a solution?
