Show me a site with less than 50% of its traffic coming from search and I'll show you a site that's failed to reach its
SEO potential. Even sites with strong branding and big offline budgets will find that people use the search box to find them. I have sites where over 90% of new visitors come from search. Cut off search and you cut off growth.
Search clicks may well represent less than 10% of page loads, but in terms of where the traffic comes from its the honey pot.
