hmmm... I agree... take a look at the old logo without anything in the "A" and tell me what you think... here is the reason why I changed it... I needed the logo to work on a white background and having the "A" filled in with all black or all white looked funny... and I did make the X bigger but it looks funny on the "E" this was my only solution.
