I have a couple of sites listed in dmoz, but it seems to be a closed door these days. Anytime I launch a new site, I still submit to dmoz because naturally it can't hurt.

Check out the bottom of the category and see if there is even an editor there, if not try applying to become an editor, make yourself seem economically uninterested in the category.....
