on your post an ad page, have you considered posting a message that says something like
Yes it really is free maybe placing a statement right there where users can see it. saying we respect your privacy with a link to your sites policy.
maybe get yourself a little logo that reflects a Little humour to put on your main and submit pages.
Free adds are not a deadly serious proposition. . let your users know that. ease the fears a little.
