'You log in via SSH and do an SCP copy to copy the entire site from one server to the other, directly. You'll have an exact mirror copy. Then you'll have to log in and copy any SQL data. I use phpMyAdmin for that.

SCP copy examples:

Example syntax for Secure Copy (scp)

I used this recently to move my site. Using FTP to pull it down locally and then re-upload it again was too much of a pain. Plus my FTP times out a lot.'

Thanks Z, although I did not understand the above, I am in no way technically minded as far as any form of programming goes. But I do now understand that it is not a huge task. the two sites in question have no sql or data bases. that is why they were never moved. . up to this point they plodded along with no real problem.

Camerasngifts thanks for the phone number - I shall tape it to my office wall

This sort of problem. . always shakes me to my bones. The truth is I would rather have a 6ft bodybuilder walk into my house with a baseball bat to beat me up. . than ten minutes of not knowing what I am doing.

I really do appreciate everyone's support and help. I shall go through the helpful post above and give a little 'reputation' to show my gratitude.
as the sincerest thank you
