The error I got was something like this:

I just found this on the Microsoft BBS - a MS engineer replied:

Stop and disable the IIS Admin World Wide Web Publishing service and FTP
Publishing services. Then try the Service Pack install.
I might try this again when i have a little more time (in case things go wrong).. Meanwhile, any other advise is still more than welcome.. :)
