Like tamecrow says, definitely host on your server and, if it's a complement to your main site, try integrate the blog as best as possible.
I really love Wordpress but as an exercise I did successfully and almost seamlessly integrate a Blogger
design blog into my (old and dusty and in much need of a redesign) website, so integrating Blogger can be done. I much prefer the feeds on Wordpress though.
