Default Re: Google Update, PageRank, Backlink Information

I take it the Page Rank is determined using the 'voting' system that Google explains on its web master help pages.

I can see how genuine informational pages can get a very good page rank as forums and other sites will naturally link to them - especially when there sites mutually benefit each other (and no competition).

It is a little different for e-commerce sites, where they seem to use door way sites, spoof information sites that point back to there sites, etc.

It seems that the only genuine way to increase a commercial site is to get its suppliers to link - but how good will that be? How many links do you need to raise the PR level?
