A link is a link. Even with the "nofollow" attribute applied, the link will still generate traffic, it still gets counted as a backlink, it just doesn't pass along
PR or TR.
Every single link in Yahoo! answers has the "nofollow" attribute applied and they're showing up in Google mere minutes after being posted.
People need to stop placing so much value in PageRank and TrustRank.
