I use webceo which does the rank checking task well and accurately, they have a free version which allows you to check up to 5 keywords on multiple SE, I eventually paid for the small business version which allows unlimited KW.

The other one I have used is SEO administrator, same sort of thing but I liked webceo better.

The other thing webceo does is analyze your pages and then give you recommendations as to how you should edit them for good SEO, their advice is by no means the final answer on SEO, but it is a handy learning tool if you are starting out in this field.
