I must beg to differ.

I track sites as far down as 1000 for all relevant keywords (and I use GoogleRankings.com to do it - no they are not totally accurate, but they are reasonably so when I check against other tools or search manually).

While SemA is correct that few humans will reach that far, there is a very important reason to track where a site falls in the SERPs on various keyword phrases: tracking the effectiveness of SEO efforts for keywords, phrases and variants.

For example, I might see that I am improving for blue widget but not for blue wdigets, and I can tweak on site SEO for plurals. Etc.

And my new client, who owns bluewidget.com, will be happily impressed with the progress, even if it from 950 to 475. That is a very significant rise in SERPs even though it is higly unlikely to have resulted in any traffic. Clearly I am doing something right if a month's effort shows that sort of movement.

I haven't used WebPositionGold in years, but it is worth considering. And has anyone used Google's own Webmaster Tools to track a site on keywords? I was told it will do that and give you a report but I haven't looked into it ... has anyone used it that way?
