Cute logo. I could see it being an effective logo, just speculating though without knowing the context in which it will be used -- but I think it may not take a great stretch of imagination to guess.

Without assuming anything, just to offer a nickel's worth of advice, suppose you also had a b/w or grayscale version to cross over to business cards or letterhead... I could see the bone being more of a simple cartoon-style outline but keeping the same fonts in everything, and maybe an outline version of the dog. But that's beside the point.
