I have a nice little DMOZ story. Like many of you, I have been trying to get several of my websites listed in the directory to no avail. We're talking months and years folks. They never respond to any of the submissions or give me any feedback. So I begin to surmise that there are simply no captains at the helm.
Recently, I tried a different tact. I applied to become a DMOZ editor/censor/whatever. First of all, their application is pretty intense for a voluntary position. Second, I was expecting to suffer from the same bureaucratic nightmare that my sites have suffered from. But I completed the form and volunteered.
Much to my surprise, I received a reply to my editor submission in less than 8 hours!! I no longer have the e-mail they sent back to me (wish I did, I would post it here), but they essentially said that my services were not needed because they had all of the categories covered. Essentially, DMOZ rejected my application because they are properly staffed?!?! LOL!
Now their site's down??? HAHAHA! Good riddance to that circus! I could care less if they are currently being DSA'd into oblivion...
