We have a link block at the bottom of our website (vacation rentals) put together by an individual also in the vacation rental business. He enlisted the cooperation of 30-40 similar businesses all over the country and we exchanged reciprocal links. You can see them here:

I know the big push these days are on back links rather than reciprocal links, but it actually has seemed to help
PR. This has been a group of simple text links. Now, he wants to change the text link block for a piece of code that will create the links dynamically. Somehow I just can't shake the notion that while this will produce a block of links alright, but that the only link the search engines will see on our site is the link to the code. Am I worried about nothing? Any insight appreciated.
