curious mostly, but I see domain names and/or sites for sale on places like Sitepoint or Godaddy(TDNAM) and wonder about things like search engine banning, url history(sometimes Wayback is helpful), ad network bans etc.

I have bought domains in the past within areas of my interest, but am increasingly hesitant because of the fact that a domain name is not always descriptive of the past content or use for that domain.

As the internet matures a virtual property's history is becoming more important to me.

As to why would google or any other service provider want you to know. Why would they care? Seems alot easier than fielding request after request via email.

I haven't seen a tool either, but would be interested in a technique than can provide some level of certainty about a domain's heritage.

My approach:
1. Research in Wayback
2. Research in Alexa
3. Url: Query in Search Engines
4. Link: Query in Search Engines
5. General Query in Search Engines

Can you think of any others?

Thanks
